About

1909664_120708904292_3207716_n (1)Welcome to Lisa Harrison Piane’s Education Technology blog. I am a Primary School Computer Science Teacher and Technology Integration Specialist at the University of Chicago Laboratory Schools in Chicago, Illinois. My school was founded in 1896 by John Dewey, the father of progressive education.  Dewey’s early philosophies are embedded in my daily teaching and throughout my curriculum. The values of progressive education that include community, critical thinking, collaboration, reflection, sharing, and active learning are not any different than what I hope my students gain from using technology.  The focus is on the process and not the product.  This digital space will document my learning as I pursue a Graduate Certificate and Master’s Degree in Educational Technology.

If we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow. – John Dewey
